Commentary

And when it became clear that there is no entrance for anyone else in bringing about victory, and that the surah from its beginning is a presence of addressing and acceptance, nothing called for a calling [with a 'yaa'] or otherwise. It was as if it was said: So what is the benefit of the message to the people? [It was answered] by His saying, confirming what was concluded with the attributes of might and wisdom.

'Indeed' [إنا] with what we have of might and wisdom, 'We have sent you' [أرسلناك] meaning: with what we have of greatness, which is the meaning of might and wisdom to all of creation, 'as a witness' [شاهدا] over their actions of disbelief and faith, obedience and disobedience. Whoever was in your presence, then by yourself, and whoever was after your death or absent from you, then by your Book, along with what We supported you with from the guardians among the angels.

And when the good tidings are beloved to the souls, He encouraged them towards what He has of good things and made it beloved to them by forming the active participle from it in exaggeration, so He said, exalted is He: 'and a bringer of good tidings' [ومبشرا] meaning: for whoever obeys, with various good tidings. And when the warning is very disliked, no one proceeds to convey it except one whose knowledge is complete regarding what is in it of benefits that necessitate enduring the bitterness of proceeding to proclaim it. He came with the form of exaggeration and said, exalted is He: 'and a warner' [ونذيرا].
