Commentary
And when He informed of these magnificent and precise matters based on the encompassing knowledge, He explained them, glorified and exalted is He, and clarified the truth in them by His saying, the Most High: ﴿He is﴾ meaning: alone ﴿the One who sent His Messenger﴾ meaning: the one who has no Messenger more deserving of being attributed to him (blessings and peace be upon him) ﴿with guidance﴾ the complete guidance that necessitates that most people should be upright by it. If He had informed of something that contained even the slightest criticism, the sending with guidance would not have been ﴿and the religion of truth﴾ meaning: the established and complete matter in its stability that corresponds to reality ﴿to make it prevail﴾ meaning: His religion ﴿over all religions﴾ the religion of the people of Mecca and the Arabs, the idol worshippers, which necessitates its prevailing over them to enter it safely, and its prevailing over others from the people of false religions by the hands of His righteous companions and those who follow them in goodness, a prevailing that will be completed by the descent of Jesus (peace be upon him) with kindness towards the creation and mercy for them. No one will be killed except for one who has no righteousness at all, and according to the extent of tyranny, the subjugation will occur. For this reason, He manages His affair with such matters that necessitate His victory and elevate His status along with kindness towards His people and good treatment towards His followers. You must see from the conquests of most lands and the subjugation of the harsh kings what you recognize by it the power of Allah, glorified and exalted is He.
And when it was in the context of the encompassing knowledge, and the estimation was: His Lord, glorified and exalted is He, witnessed His truthfulness in all that He said by manifesting miracles at His hands, He built upon it His saying, the Most High: ﴿And sufficient is Allah﴾ meaning: the One who has the encompassing knowledge of all attributes of perfection ﴿as a witness﴾ meaning: one who has vision and experience of the essence of everything and its entrance due to His richness in His affair. There is no witness in reality except Him, glorified and exalted is He; because there is no encompassing knowledge, experience, or oversight except for Him, glorified and exalted is He. And He witnesses all that His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) informed of in this particular instance and in others generally.
