Tafsir for verse: 48:27
27Indeed, Allah has made true to His Messenger the dream (shown) with truth: You will definitely enter the Sacred Mosque inshā’allāh (if Allah wills,) peacefully, with your heads shaved, and your hairs cut short, having no fear. So He knew what you did not know, and He assigned before that a victory, near at hand.

Commentary

And when He, glorified and exalted is He, established His knowledge of the consequences for the comprehensiveness of His knowledge, and directed the causes for restraining the hands of the two groups, and clarified what is in it of benefits and what is in the empowerment of it of harms, such as killing one who is judged to be a believer among the polytheists and harming those whose faith among the believers is unknown - and other than that, to conclude with the comprehensiveness of His knowledge which necessitates the inclusiveness of His power. This resulted in His saying to those who anticipated the news about the vision that troubled them, and some of them nearly faltered at its mention for the sake of emphasis: "Indeed."

And when there are two considerations for looking at the vision: one from the perspective of reality, which is hidden from the companions, may Allah be pleased with them all; and the other from the perspective of the news, which is with the vision as a testimony in relation to Him, glorified and exalted is He, He expressed it with truth and reality, so He said: "Allah has spoken the truth," meaning: the King who has no equal, encompassing all attributes of perfection. "His Messenger," blessings and peace be upon him, who is the most honored of creation in His sight, and He is free from needing to inform about what cannot be. So how if the informer is His Messenger? The vision, which is from revelation; because He, glorified and exalted is He, sees the reality and knows its correspondence in that you will enter the Sacred Mosque in safety, some shaving their heads and others shortening their hair, with his news and the vision of His Messenger, blessings and peace be upon him, "with truth," because the content of the news, when it occurs, corresponds between the reality and it, and the reality corresponds to it, nothing of it is missing from anything of it. The result is that if you attribute it to the reality, it corresponds to it, so it is true; and if you attribute the reality to it, it corresponds to it, so it is indeed true.

And when He swore for the sake of emphasis to those who were wavering, He responded to them with His saying, confirming with what also implies the oath, indicating the magnitude of the tremor: "You will surely enter," meaning: after this, an entrance that has been decreed. "The Mosque," meaning: the one around which the Kaaba is circumambulated, and there will be no entrance to it except by entering the Sacred Sanctuary, "the Sacred," meaning: which Allah has protected from the humiliation of tyrants and has prevented from every oppressor.

And when it is not obligatory upon Him, glorified and exalted is He, anything, even if He promised it, He indicated that with His saying as a reprimand to them, that they should not say afterwards: Did He not say that we will enter the house and similar things? And for others to say: We will enter: "If Allah wills," meaning: the One who encompasses all attributes of perfection, while you are "in safety," fearing none but Allah, divided according to shaving and shortening into two groups: "shaving your heads," and perhaps He indicated with the form of causation that the doers of the truth are many, and likewise "and shortening," except that the precedence implies that the first is more.

And when the entry during safety does not necessitate safety afterwards, Allah, the Exalted, said: ﴿Do not fear﴾ meaning: no fear will arise for you after that until you enter upon them in the year of the conquest, overpowering them by victory. And since it is known that the reason for this news is the encompassing knowledge, the estimation is: this is a true matter that is firmly established; because it is the news of the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, He, glorified is He, spoke the truth in it. And nothing prevented you from this opportunity in this manner except for matters He has arranged and affairs He has decreed and determined. He said, adding to: ﴿He spoke the truth﴾ as a cause or explanation: ﴿So He knew﴾ meaning: for a reason, or because He knew the causes of the victory and its impediments and based it on wisdom ﴿what you did not know﴾ meaning: O allies ﴿So He made﴾ meaning: due to the encompassing of His knowledge ﴿from below﴾ meaning: the least rank of ﴿that﴾ meaning: the great entry in this year ﴿a near victory﴾ which strengthens you by it from the victory of Khaybar and the establishment of peace among the Arabs through this treaty, and the mingling of some people because of that with others, which leads to the Islam of many people by whom you will be strengthened. So that multitude and strength will be the cause of the awe of the disbelievers, preventing them from fighting, and the casualties will be reduced out of kindness to the people of the Sacred House of Allah, the Exalted, in honor of this noble Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, from raiding and harming those among the weak Muslims without knowledge.
