And when he mentioned fighting, the listener yearned to know the state of the fighter in terms of victory and defeat. So he responded with what is known by the condition of victory, saying: ﴿O you who have believed﴾ meaning: affirm this even if it is at the lowest levels, as indicated by the tool of distance and the connection to the past. ﴿If you support Allah﴾ meaning: a continuous intention is renewed for you and a constant action on supporting the religion of the Greatest King by clarifying its proofs and explaining them, and refuting the doubts of the people of falsehood and fighting them. And this should be purely for Him, not for any other corrupt intentions that are afflicted by the pursuit of this world or fame through bravery, knowledge, and good reputation, or anger for one's family and other than that. ﴿He will support you﴾ for He is the supporter, and none other than Him from numbers or forces will crush the enemies of the religion by your hands.

And since victory may occur alongside incapacity, laziness, cowardice, and failure, it was clarified that He protects them from that. So He said: ﴿And He will make your feet firm﴾ meaning: a great firming by filling your hearts with tranquility and reassurance, and your bodies with strength and bravery in times of killing and during searching and debating, and at the time of undertaking all actions. So you will be exalted [dominant] to the utmost degree of good souls and the expansion of chests, trusting in Allah and being proud of Him even if the people of the earth conspire against you.
