Commentary
And when He clarified to them what would happen to those who were reluctant about the command of Allah; because the king does not consider a possibility in anything except that it is a reality, distinguishing between His words and the words of others. So how about the King of kings, who encompasses everything in power and knowledge? He clarified their state which resulted in that for them. He said, turning away from them as a sign of anger, addressing the one who was created with compassion for the creation of Allah and mercy for them, informing him that these people have certainly earned their misery, so they are not deserving of intercession for them nor of pity for them: "Those are" meaning the distant and detestable ones, "whom Allah has cursed" meaning: He expelled them with the utmost expulsion, the Most Great King, due to what has been mentioned of their corruption and severing. Then He caused their playing to be a result of His saying, exalted is He: "So He made them deaf" to the benefit of what they hear, "and blinded their eyes" to the benefit of what they see. Thus, their hearing is not a hearing of remembrance, nor is their sight a sight of consideration. Therefore, they have no hearing nor sight.
