أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ كَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُۥ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَهۡوَآءَهُم ١٤ ﴿14

And when this was a witness proof after the rational evidences regarding what was previously promised, it caused denial against them. So he said: "Is he who is on a clear proof from his Lord?" This means in all his conditions, a state that is evidently clear in that it is true from his Lord, the Nurturer, the Planner for him, the Benefactor to him by what He establishes of the evidences that incapacitate all creatures from being able to bring even one of them. So he perceived the evil of his deeds and was shown it in its reality, so he saw it as bad and avoided it, opposing his desires. Al-Qushayri said: The scholars are in the light of their proofs, and the knowers are in the light of their clarifications.

"Like one whom the devil has beautified for him..." This is by the beautification of the devil by making it easy for him and creating for him the effects with the easiest matter, the evil of his deeds, whether it be polytheism or disobedience.
