And when the resurrection was established by the evidence that had arisen, he reminded them of some of what occurs on that day from the terrors, as a warning from it. He said, adding to what you estimate: Remember this (p-188) the clear analogy of the intended meaning and what has passed in this surah from the warnings. "And the day" means: [And] remember the day "when they are presented" in the easiest of our commands. "Those who disbelieved" means: they concealed, by their negligence and persistence upon it, this evident evidence "to the Fire" like the presentation of troops to the king, so they hear its fury and roaring, and they see from its flames and its blazing and its fierce heat what, if it were decreed that anyone were to die from that, they would have died from witnessing it and the horrors of its sight.

And when it was as if it was said: What will be done with them at the time of their presentation? It was said: It will be said to them in a manner of reproach, reprimand, and rebuke: "Is this not" meaning: the great matter that you were promised and for our messengers in their news you disbelieved? "With the truth" means: the established matter that corresponds with reality, so you have no ability to endure it; it is an illusion and magic, so you do not care about its coming.

And when the longing of the knowledgeable listener intensified regarding what they were showing of arrogance and pride in response to them, he said in his response, beginning anew: "They said" meaning: confirming (p-189) where the confirmation does not benefit: "Indeed" [and] their haste to deny themselves was not enough until they swore to it, for their state was far from acknowledgment. They mentioned the attribute of goodness as an increase in humility and submission. "And our Lord" means: indeed, it is the truth, it is among the most established of matters, and there is nothing in it that resembles magic. Then he began to respond to the one who asked about their response to them with the words of Allah, the Most High: "He said" reproaching them, clarifying their humiliation, the place of their arrogance that was in the world, caused by their confirmation of this which they placed in the wrong place and made it in the abode of action, which is based on faith in the unseen, as a denial expressing what conveys the utmost contempt for them: "So taste the punishment" meaning: experience it directly with the tongue. Then he specified the reason and said: "For what you used to" meaning: a character and creation that is continuous and everlasting "disbelieve" in the abode of action.
