And when their saying included the attribution of their caller, blessings and peace be upon him, to that which has no indication from his words concerning it in any way, which is the claim of knowledge of their punishment and the ability to inflict it, and their denial of him in each of these two necessary aspects of it, their claim of knowledge that they will not be punished was false. It was as if it was said: "How did he respond to them?" It was said: "He said," confirming them in denying his knowledge of that and his ability to inflict it, denying them in their attribution of any claim of either of these to him and to themselves that it will not occur: "Indeed, knowledge is only with Allah," meaning: the knowledge encompassing everything, your punishment and otherwise, "is with Allah," meaning: the One who encompasses all attributes of perfection.
