Commentary
And when this indicated His absolute richness and His sovereignty, and that there is no equal to Him, He added some necessary points to this as a reminder for further care regarding Him, to dispel what they might imagine of claiming partnership that they do not accept for themselves. He said: ﴿And to Him﴾ meaning: Alone ﴿belongs the greatness﴾ meaning: the greatest pride that has no end: ﴿in the heavens﴾ all of them ﴿and the earth﴾ all of it, in which there are signs for the believers. Muslim, Abu Dawood, and Ibn Majah narrated from Abu Hurairah, and Muslim (p-117) from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, said: Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, says: "Greatness is My cloak and pride is My garment; whoever disputes with Me regarding one of them, I will cast him into the Fire." In one narration: I will punish him, and in another narration: I will break him.
﴿And He﴾ alone ﴿is the Mighty﴾ who overcomes everything and nothing overcomes Him ﴿the Wise﴾ who places things in their most perfect positions and does not place anything except in that way, just as He has perfected His commands and prohibitions and all of His legislation. He has perfected the arrangement of this Qur'an in sentences and verses, and in pauses and ends. After He clarified its meanings and its revelation as a response to what they were concerned about, it became miraculous in its arrangement and meaning and revelation according to the responses to the occurrences as required by the situation. Thus, the last of it corresponded to the first of it with the two mentioned attributes, and with the encouragement to reflect upon the signs of the two horizons, and the declaration of what necessitated that from the pride that requires the humiliation of the enemies and the honor of the allies - and Allah is the Guide to the truth, and to Him is the return and the final destination. And Allah knows best His intention.
