Commentary
And when He indicated His power over resurrection with this specific evidence, which is: Allah, who [began] your creation from the earth in this manner, is capable of resurrecting you. He then added another comprehensive proof and said, "And to Allah belongs" [that is] the Greatest King alone, "the dominion of the heavens" all of it, "and the earth" from which He began you. Whoever acts in His dominion with anything, is capable of doing likewise as long as He is the King.
And when the determination is: His dominion of that is eternal, He acts in it today as you see, with the raising of this and the lowering of that. If the people had submitted to His decree, they would have reached all that they have reached through tyranny and aggression. Indeed, nothing escapes His command, but most people today are in doubt, wavering in it. He built upon this His saying, "And on the Day the Hour arises" meaning: it exists and is realized, the realization of the one who is fully established and whose affair is complete, standing with the burdens of what he wants. And He repeated, glorified is He, for the purpose of emphasis and confirmation, His saying: "On that Day" [meaning] when it arises, they will lose - thus was the original, but He said for the purpose of generalization and connection with the description: "the falsifiers will lose" meaning: those who enter into falsehood, deeply entrenched in its attributes, those who were not pleased with My decree and hastened, thus they reach their desires through what I did not command. They will continue to strive until the time that I have determined for their reaching it comes, and they will reach it, thinking that they have reached it by their striving, and that if they had been left alone, they would not have had that. They will lose because of their striving with what I have made for them of choice in My will concerning them, contrary to My command, a continuous loss that they cannot escape from, and the rightful will succeed.
