Commentary
And when he denied the equality and condemned them for ruling by it, he followed that with the decisive proof that the two groups are not equal; otherwise, the Creator of this existence would not be Mighty nor Wise. He said, indicating the denial of equality and their bad judgment regarding it, adding to what he has estimated: 'Indeed, Allah created all people with truth, and this is the established matter that corresponds to reality. It is the stability of the deeds of the doers of good and the nullification of the actions of the wrongdoers.' He added to this His saying: ﴿And Allah created﴾, meaning: the One who possesses all attributes of perfection, and it is not correct nor conceivable for any type of deficiency to befall Him. ﴿The heavens and the earth﴾, which are the containers for you, and the Surah began by pointing out their signs, a creation that is intertwined ﴿with truth﴾, so nothing false corresponds to reality in them [ever]. So whenever the cause of a thing is found and its impediment is removed, it exists. And whenever the impediment of a thing is found and its cause is removed, it does not exist. This does not fail at all. Therefore, the entirety of what has occurred from their creation corresponds to the reality, which is the power of Allah, His knowledge, His wisdom, and all of His attributes of perfection that their creation indicates. So if the container is based on this precision, what then is the assumption about the contained, which the container was created solely for? Is it possible in wisdom for it to be other than that, so that the reality, which is the preference of the doer of good over the wrongdoer, does not correspond to their conditions? Among the entirety of the contained is what is between them, and that is why it was not mentioned here. And if that were without resurrection and recompense according to deeds, this great creation would not be with truth, but rather with falsehood, which the Wise is exalted above. How could it be when He is the Most Just of judges?
And when the estimation was: for every cause to correspond to its causes, he added to this His saying: ﴿And to be recompensed﴾ [with the easiest matter] ﴿Every soul﴾, meaning: from you and from others ﴿for what﴾, meaning: for the matter which. And when the context is general, and the believer is not recompensed except for what he has done intentionally and purposefully to be recorded in his deeds, he expressed it with the earning, which is more specific than the action, so he said: ﴿She earned﴾, meaning: her earning of good or evil, so what was promised corresponds to her earning. ﴿And they﴾, meaning: while they ﴿are not wronged﴾, meaning: there is no one who exists at any time who would give them a recompense in a place other than its own. And this is based on what your customs have established in justice and virtue. And if there were from Him, glorified is He, other than that, it would not be injustice from Him, for He is the absolute owner and the greatest king. So if He were to punish the inhabitants of His heavens and the inhabitants of His earth all together, He would not be unjust to them in the essence of the matter. This address is only based on what we are accustomed to in establishing the proof by opposing the matter.
