Commentary
'The revelation of the Book' means the sending down of the comprehensive source of all good, divided for the sake of increasing ease in understanding and conveying it in a simple manner in teaching, and other forms of abundant grace. And He increased its greatness by saying, 'from Allah,' meaning it is from the One who encompasses the attributes of perfection. And when it was - as has been mentioned - for the sake of might and wisdom, the greatest blessing here, He said, 'the Almighty, the Wise.' Thus, His Book is mighty and wise, not as the disbelievers say that it is poetry, or lies, or divination; because there is no wisdom in that, nor is there might in a way that confuses its matter with that of this encompassing Book [of wisdom] and correctness. And it indicates, by the evidences of power and the traces of craftsmanship from the copy of this Book, the two attributes and its oneness in them, which necessitates its absolute uniqueness. He then said, confirming for those who deny that, even by action, and encouraging a careful examination of the signs of existence, which this Book is an explanation for their obscurities and a detailed account of their generalities, and an indication that they [are worthy] of directing thoughts to contemplate them.
