Commentary

(p-57)(p-58) Surah Al-Jathiya, and it is called Al-Shari'a. Its purpose is to indicate that the One who revealed this Book - as indicated in Al-Dukhan - is the One of Might, for nothing can overpower Him, and He overpowers everything. And the Wisdom is that He has not placed anything except in the most appropriate of its places. It is known that He is the One who is exclusive to Greatness. He established a Law that is in the utmost straightness, which minds cannot independently grasp, and nothing from it deviates from it. He commanded in it and prohibited, and He encouraged and warned. Then it was concealed to the extent that it is not known, and then it became apparent to the extent that it is not ignored. Among the accountable are those who judge by their minds and avoid their desires, so they witness His Majesty and hear and obey. And among them are those who followed their desires, preferring to stray from the light of reason, so they deviated and lost. The Wisdom necessitates that He, glorified and exalted is He, must gather the creation for the Day of Judgment, so that every manifestation appears, and He will judge His servants to witness His mercy, the obedient, and His greatness, the disobedient. He will spread justice and manifest virtue, and He will reveal all of His attributes to all of His creation. And upon this, the name Al-Shari'a indicated, and the name Al-Jathiya is clear in its indication if one reflects upon each of its verses. And Allah, glorified and exalted is He, is the Guide. 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,' who is unique in the fullness of Might and Greatness, 'the Most Gracious,' who perfected His mercy with general expression for the happy and the miserable, 'the Most Merciful,' who specifically clothed His allies with the garments of obedience. * *﴿Ha-Mim﴾ That is: the wisdom of Muhammad to which it culminates, as previously mentioned in Al-Dukhan, what He made clear in its revelation from the Mother of the Book in entirety to the House of Might. It indicated His blessings, which indicated the wisdom of its Revealer and His Might with the good tidings and warnings, and the punishment of the criminals after a long period of forbearance and patience, and salvation for the pious, and other matters that are in the utmost indication of that, for they return to goodness for whoever listens while being a witness. And it pointed to its ease for whoever reflects upon this reminder translated in the tongue of the best of creation, the most complete of them, and the noblest of them in creation and the best of them. He began this by informing that He increased that ease and simplicity by revealing it in stages according to the events, perfectly corresponding to them after its revelation in entirety from the Mother of the Book, then arranged for what was revealed from it in a way that conveys knowledge and clarifies important hidden secrets. He said:
