Commentary
And when he understood this, he became in a position surrounded by torment from all sides. He clarified that he has another type of distress, the rank of which in greatness deserves to be mentioned with a softening expression. So he said: ﴿Then pour﴾, meaning: in all the direction which is ﴿above his head﴾, so that what is poured surrounds all of his body ﴿from the torment of the boiling water﴾, meaning: the torment that boils with it [the boiling water] or that which is the boiling water itself. The expression of it as torment is more terrifying. And this is in contrast to what they had of blessings from what descends (p-46) from the sky in the form of rain, so that the heat of the outward is combined with the boiling water and the inward with the bitter tree.
