And when He commanded him with the Isra' and explained it, He commanded him with what he should do in it and explained it, saying: "And leave the sea" meaning: when you have made the Isra' with them and the enemy follows you and you reach it and We commanded you to strike it so that it may open for you to enter [into it], and you entered and were saved, "rahanan" after your exit from it altogether; meaning, wide and calm so that the elevated part of its water is elevated and the lowered part is lowered like a wall, and its path which you walked on was dry with an easy passage in the state in which you entered so that your enemy may enter it, and we may glorify by drowning them as We promised you. And Al-Baghawi said: 'rahanan' meaning, having rahan, and it was named from the source, and he attributed it to Muqatil. End of quote.

And when these were the reasons for the entry of the people of Pharaoh into it, He explained what would calm their hearts in leaving the sea as an open path for the enemy to enter, confirming for the sake of distancing Bani Israel from the news that it is from the extraordinary events along with what is in the hearts of Pharaoh and his people of the awe that necessitates them to distance their generality with destruction: "Indeed, they are a drowned army" meaning: firmly established in [this] description even if they have the description of strength and gathering which is the support that necessitates superiority in matters.
