And when it was one of the wonders that he killed one of them, then he escaped from them, then he came to them, especially coming to overpower them in a great matter without anything occurring between them and him that would erase what had previously happened from him, he alerted them to his coming in this state as another sign indicating authority. He said, confirming to refute their assumption that he was in their grasp: "And indeed I sought refuge" meaning I took refuge and refrained "with my Lord" who has nurtured me according to what His kindness towards me and His grace upon me necessitated, "and your Lord" who protected me from your killing me for you due to what His wisdom called for from your tyranny and arrogance and the strength of your power, "that you may stone me" meaning that a killing from you might occur to me at some time. I did not come to you until I had secured myself with my Lord in that matter, for I said: "So I fear that they will kill me" [Ash-Shu'ara: 14]. He said: "We will strengthen your arm with your brother and we will make for both of you an authority, so they will not reach you with Our signs" [Al-Qasas: 35]. So it is among My greatest signs that you will not reach, with your strength and multitude, to kill me, while there is no strength for me without Allah who sent me.
