Commentary
And when the unveiling of the signs and the manifestation of the punishment do not benefit in guiding to the truth more than what the Messenger, blessings and peace be upon him, has benefited by what he established of miracles, rather the benefit of the Messenger is greater. It was responded to those who seemed to ask about their state at that time by His saying, turning away from addressing them, indicating the continuity of their affliction; so that it is not thought that he unveiled the punishment from them except due to the assumption that they are truthful: ﴿How﴾ meaning: how and from where ﴿will they have the reminder﴾ meaning: this great reminder which they described themselves with ﴿and indeed﴾ meaning: while the case is that indeed ﴿a Messenger has come to them﴾ that which is greater than that, being (p-16) a clear Messenger, meaning: manifest to the utmost degree that he is our Messenger, and clarified to the utmost clarity what he brought from us by what has been shown of the signs, and other than that from the indications.
