(p-14) ﴿He covers the people﴾ meaning: those threatened by this, and they are those who are content with the lowliness of the soul and the disturbance from the peaks of steadfastness in the rank of correctness. Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "Hasten to do good deeds before six things: the Dajjal, the smoke, the beast of the earth, the rising of the sun from its west, the general command, and the specific matter of one of you." And since it is known that they will say upon his coming, following their habit of ignorance: What is this? They are answered by His saying, exalted is He, as a narration from the tongue of the state, or the words of some of them or some of the friends of Allah: ﴿This is a painful punishment﴾ whose pain reaches the heart and extends in its anguish due to what you used to inflict upon your callers to Allah by rejecting their words and belittling your reliance on the abundance of numbers [and strength] and support.
