And when this is the place for the Messenger to say, blessings and peace be upon him, the meaning from the context: what did he do with them after this statement, which left no ambiguity for anyone? This was caused by his saying as a consolation for him and a threat to them: ﴿So wait﴾ meaning: wait with all your effort, looking down upon them like one who is a guardian of it, being cautious of similar things with the determination like that of a fierce lion. The action is transitive, but it was limited to avoid exaggeration regarding the removal of doubt in its effect in every way. Perhaps the intended meaning originally is what results from the causes of your victory and the reasons for their defeat. ﴿On the Day the heaven comes﴾ meaning: in what is imagined to the eye due to what obscures the sight from the intensity of effort due to hunger, if what is meant is what happened to them from the famine arising from the drought caused by his saying, blessings and peace be upon him: "O Allah, help me against them with seven like the seven of Yusuf." It has been narrated in the authentic reports that a man from them would see what is between the heaven and the earth like smoke. In reality, the intended meaning is at the approach of the Hour and after its establishment. It has been reported that it will come then and cover the people, and the believer will experience from it something like a cold. It is permissible that what is meant is broader than all of that, and its beginning is the time of drought. It was a sign of what follows it, or from it what comes at the emergence of smoke from the drought that occurs before it or otherwise, as the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "I have hidden for you a hidden thing, so what is it? He said: The smoke." It was interpreted as smoke, and for this reason Allah, glorified and exalted is He, said: ﴿With clear smoke﴾ meaning: clear with no ambiguity for its observer and clarifying what is other than it from the signs for the discerning.
