And when this saying indicates the utmost of what can be achieved through effort, it resulted in what is concealed by their faith and their reaching the high ranks that are the result of what was hoped for them at the beginning of the Surah. And all of this is by the blessing of him, blessings and peace be upon him, in a context whose apparent meaning is a threat, while its inner meaning - in relation to His knowledge - is a glad tidings of reinforcement. So He said: ﴿So turn away from them﴾, meaning pardon those among them who turn away, turning away without paying attention to them except for conveying the message. ﴿And say﴾, meaning to them: ﴿Peace﴾, meaning my affair now is to leave you in your safety from me and my safety from you. ﴿Soon they will know﴾ with a promise that there is no changing of it. So its apparent meaning is a great threat, and the reading of the people of Medina and Ibn Amer with the address is a more severe threat. Its inner meaning, by expressing pardon towards them and peace, is a glad tidings that they will become scholars and surpass the nations in knowledge after they have surpassed them in intellect - as I understood from the beginning of the Surah - and they will elevate the nations in walking upon the paths of reason. So may Allah bless him who embraced the first, and a segment returned to the beginning, descending. O you who organize pearls! Where do you go from this high structure, and neglect this precious and costly jewel, and stray from this shining and glittering light? Then he raised it and brought it down, and exalted it as the full moon of meanings and preferred it.
