Commentary
And when He glorified His Most Sacred Self and affirmed for Himself the right to divinity by the consensus of His creation, by what He instilled in their innate nature and guided them to it by their intellects, He followed that with other proofs by affirming every perfection by what the intellects can encompass and by what they cannot encompass. He explicitly stated His sovereignty, saying: ﴿And blessed is﴾ meaning He established a permanence that is unlike any permanence, for there is no removal with the auspiciousness, blessing, and every perfection. So there is no comparison to Him, so that it could be claimed that He has a child or a partner. Then He described Himself with what clarifies His blessedness and His uniqueness in divinity, saying: ﴿To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens﴾ meaning all of them ﴿and the earth﴾ likewise ﴿and whatever is between them﴾ and between every two of them. The evidence for this is the consensus established on His oneness in times of necessity.
When His uniqueness in sovereignty was established, and the king must be one who knows his dominion, and sometimes a claimant might claim and a denier might deny in sovereignty or knowledge, He cut off aspirations with His saying: ﴿And with Him﴾ meaning alone ﴿is the knowledge of the Hour﴾ leading it to the course of what is known in existence, there is no room for disagreement in it. This is an indication of what is upon it from the decisive proofs embedded in the original innate nature. How about what thought leads to from the mention that hearing alerts to? And because the one whose uniqueness in sovereignty is established, it is necessary to accept His reports about Himself, out of fear of His might and hope for His blessings. ﴿And to Him﴾ meaning alone, not to anyone else after the Day of Resurrection ﴿you will be returned﴾ with the easiest matter, confirming His sovereignty and cutting off the dispute in His oneness. The reading of the congregation, which is those other than Ibn Kathir, Hamzah, Al-Kisai, and Warsh from Ya'qub with the address is more threatening than the reading of the others with the unseen, and is more indicative of the extent of anger against those who do not accept His guidance after the removal of everything that could cause doubt.
