And when his words were this way, establishing him in the eyes of those who reflect, not elevating him, and he had walked upon his followers because they were with the presumption without the favor, they are the most humiliated of anything to one whose worldly leadership has been established, even if he becomes dust. And the most disobedient to one whom the people have not understood, even if he performs great deeds. The listener longed for what he would be affected by, so he said: ﴿So he made light of﴾, meaning because of these deceptions with which he enchanted them in this speech that is, in reality, belittling to him, weakening his matter, and shattering his kingdom in the eyes of one who has understanding. ﴿His people﴾, who have great strength, were carried by his deception to what they were prepared for in the lightness of their minds. ﴿So they obeyed him﴾ by acknowledging his kingship, submitting to his greatness, and recognizing his lordship, and they rejected the matter of Musa, blessings and peace be upon him.
