And when the rational person does not inform about himself except with what is true, how about if he is great among his people? How about if he confirms that with various types of confirmation? The listener to these words would certainly conclude his truthfulness. Allah, glorified and exalted is He, clarified what confirms that their state is like that of one who believes he is a magician, as they hastened to betray him with lies without any shyness or fear. He said, expressing this with 'fa' indicating that: 'So when We removed' the punishment that We had sent down upon them, 'they were breaking their promises,' meaning they suddenly returned to breaking their promises with one breach after another.
