And when he established his goodness within himself, which necessitates his adherence to it, he turned to its benefit for them. And he confirmed their denial by saying: "And indeed, it is" meaning that which was revealed to you in this world "a reminder" meaning a great honor indeed and an admonition and clarification. He expressed the honor by the reminder to indicate that its cause is the inclination towards the reminder and towards what he clarified and legislated, and the holding fast to it and the concern for its matter: "for you and for your people" specifically Quraysh and generally the Arabs and all who follow you, even if they are from others, due to its revelation upon one of them and in their language. Thus, all people became followers of them, and due to the inheritance of the goodly way and the pure vast sciences and the influence of it appearing over all groups and the leadership of Quraysh specifically, as he, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "This matter will remain among Quraysh as long as there are two people left among the people who establish the religion." So whoever establishes this religion is honored and mentioned in the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Ibn al-Jawzi said: And al-Dahhak narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, when asked: To whom will this matter go after you? He did not inform of anything until this verse was revealed. After that, when he was asked, he said: "To Quraysh" - and this indicates that the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, understood from this that he would lead the Muslims by the ruling of prophethood and the honor of the Quran, and that his people would succeed him after him in the leadership by the honor of the Quran that was revealed upon a man from them.

And when the estimation was: So you will be elevated over all the kings and you will know, he added to it his saying: "And you will be asked" meaning you will become the destination for all types of knowledge, a resting place for the seekers in religion and worldly matters, such that all the people of the earth, from the people of the Book and others, will ask you about what concerns them regarding their religion and their worldly affairs, due to their belief that no one equals you in knowledge after you were to them the most insignificant of nations in weakness and ignorance, as happened to the Children of Israel when Allah elevated them. And that was the farthest thing from Pharaoh and his people, and for that reason they mocked derisively at those verses and attributed the one who brought them to what is not befitting of his high rank from impossibilities. And you will be asked about His right and the performance of His gratitude and how you were in acting upon it and responding to it, and this is a true promise with no contradiction in it at all.
