Commentary
And when this was like despair from them, and despair from the righteousness of the adversary necessitated wishing for relief from him by the death of one of them, his saying caused by the two estimations is clear that the delay for them is not due to incapacity from them nor to breaking the promise, confirmed by the 'noon' and 'what' then 'I' and the nominal form for whoever thinks otherwise. And because he, blessings and peace be upon him, is honored before Him, glorified and exalted is He, and is greatly revered by Him, so his departure with him is something that is far-fetched, and it is his right to deny. Likewise, his showing them what he warned them with, because it is presumed that they are honored for his sake: "So if We were to take you away" meaning from among their midst by death or otherwise, "then indeed, We are from them" meaning those who were previously hinted at as they are deaf, blind, and misguided, for their feelings will not benefit them. "Seeking revenge" meaning after your departure, for your presence among them is the reason for delaying the punishment from them.
