Commentary
And when "min" is general, and the companion is for the kind, and he singled it out because he specified every individual, the estimation is: Indeed, they will carry them towards the types of wickedness and open for them the doors of vices and calamities, and they will facilitate for them the committing of abominations and misfortunes. He followed this with a saying, confirming what is in the souls of the majority - as he indicated at the end of the verse - that the one who is expanded upon is the guided one, gathering evidence of the abundance of the misguided: ﴿And indeed they﴾ meaning the companions ﴿will prevent them﴾ meaning the lovers ﴿from the path﴾ meaning the way from which whoever deviates perishes, for there is no path in reality other than it.
And when the deviation from the path is to a path other than the path, rather to pitfalls in which there is no guide for guidance, astonishingly, he followed it with another astonishment and said: ﴿And they think﴾ meaning the lovers, with their proceeding in the perils to beautify the companions by bringing forth pleasures and desires and distancing from admonitions: ﴿that they are guided﴾ meaning they are entrenched in this description for what they draw upon themselves from the expansion upon them and the constriction upon the rememberers.
