And when the descent of water from above is in the utmost wonder, especially when it occurs at a time other than its usual time, and the growth of plants by it is even more wondrous, and it is a sign of resurrection without a doubt, the purpose of the surah is that they must be turned away from their stubbornness by the greatest disbelief to faith and submission to Him with utmost acceptance. He indicates by this the perfection of power over that and other matters by pointing to the completeness of the description through the conjunction and by repeating the relative pronoun that indicates the masculine subject in His greatness to alert that the repetition, of which this is the evidence, is the secret of existence. It is more noble than what was intended by the previous verse regarding the earth's cradle and the paths: "And He Who sent down" means gradually. Were it not for His manifest power, it would have been a single instant or close to it. "From the sky" means the high place. It is a great pride to seize the opportunity to decree what they deny and by which they disbelieve regarding resurrection. So He, glorified and exalted is He, said to awaken them from their slumber, a resurrection from the death of their intoxication: "Thus" means like this great emergence of what you see from the plants. "You will be brought out" from physical and metaphorical death by an easier matter than His matter, glorified and exalted is He, and the easiest affair. So you will come forth in the company of the dead from the earth again. "When you are but humans spreading" [Ar-Rum: 20] and you will emerge from the darkness of ignorance to the light of faith, and when you are wise and knowledgeable.
