Commentary
And when there remained after this no statement for the obstinate, nor any semblance of it at all for the misguided, the place of calling was upon those who continued in their obstinacy by saying, affirming their claim that they are upon clarity in their matter.
"Indeed, they" means the disbelievers "are in doubt" meaning denial, argument, and uncertainty, and misguidance from the frivolous, "about meeting" and diverting the saying to the addition of the description of kindness towards them, indicating that there must be the perfection of their upbringing by resurrection, for He is the Most Just of judges. He said: "their Lord" meaning the One who is kind to them by creating them and providing for them for reckoning and recompense with reward and punishment, as is the case with every wise one regarding those under His command.
And when they were manifesting doubt in the ability to resurrect, their faith confirmed it, acknowledging His ability over all things, including resurrection and others. He said: "Indeed, He" meaning this One who is kind to them "is capable of all things" meaning of all things, both in general and in detail, their universals and particulars, their unseen and witnessed, their ownership and dominion.
He encompasses them in power and knowledge of many things and few, both in general and in detail. Soon He will gather them upon the truth and replace their doubt with submission, and their uncertainty with certainty and proof. His mercy is general for all the people of existence and specific for those whom He has granted faith that leads to the comfort of safety.
So how can it be imagined in a mind that He would abandon resurrection to the Day of Judgment, which is the essence of wisdom, and the place of manifesting blessing and punishment? And He has known that the application of its end is praiseworthy for the book established for resurrection and reckoning, based on its beginning, detailed for the Qur'an that pours forth for the two categories of mercy: the general and the specific for the people of the worlds, according to what justice and kindness necessitate, with glad tidings for the people of faith and warning for the people of tyranny - and Allah is the Guide, and upon Him is the reliance.
