And when he mentioned their state in this world, and referred to the state of the Hereafter, he followed it with a detailed explanation by saying: "And on the Day" meaning: remember the days of the enemies of Allah in this world when His punishment was sent down upon them and His retribution was inflicted in their territories. And remember the Day they will be gathered - thus was the original, but he clarified what they were punished with so that it encompasses all who possess such traits from the former and the latter. He said: "They will be gathered" meaning: they will be assembled in great numbers by a commanding order in which there is no burden upon us - this is according to the reading of the majority in the passive form. And according to the reading of Nafi and Ya'qub in the active form, it would refer to the context of "And We saved". In both readings, there is a meaning of greatness, and for this reason, the greatest name was appropriate, which is greater than the manifestation of greatness from which the focus was diverted due to the mention of it being an increase in their reproach and a condemnation of their actions and a belittling of their intellects in His saying: "the enemies of Allah" meaning: the greatest King, and its grammatical analysis is clear according to each reading. "To the Fire" the abode of the wretched. "So they will be distributed" meaning: they will be driven and returned in the easiest manner, the first of them upon the last of them. And whoever among them wishes to deviate to the right or to the left, thinking that he might escape due to their multitude, they will be repelled with a repulsion of humiliation, and he will gather to them whoever strayed from them, for indeed, everything from that is a type of punishment.
