Commentary
(p-134) Surah Ha-Mim As-Sajda, also called Fussilat. Its purpose is to inform that knowledge is what the All-Encompassing, in power and knowledge, has chosen from His knowledge for His servants, which He legislated for them. His messengers came to them with it. That knowledge is what leads to belief in Allah and steadfastness in obedience to Him, which are both connected - as previously mentioned in Az-Zumar in His saying: ﴿Are those who know equal to those who do not know?﴾ [Az-Zumar: 9]. Thus, its consequence will be the complete unveiling when He, glorified and exalted is He, becomes the hearing of the scholar by which he hears, and the sight by which he sees, and the hand by which he grasps, and the foot by which he walks - up to the end of the sacred hadith, the meaning of which is that He, glorified and exalted is He, grants him success so that he does not do except what pleases Him. Based on this, its name 'Fussilat' indicates [what] is in the mentioned verse regarding this word from the detailed Book for a people who know. The Sajda refers to what is in its verse concerning obedience to Him through prostration, which is the closest means of drawing near to the Sovereign, the Judge, and the glorification, which is the first entry into faith. * * 'In the name of Allah' who has not accepted for His encompassing attributes of perfection from the majesty of the Book except what is coupled with the beauty of action, 'the Most Gracious' who encompasses all things with mercy and knowledge, thus He detailed the Book in detail and clarified it to the utmost clarity, 'the Most Merciful' who has specifically favored the scholars who act upon hearing the call and the effectiveness of the word. ﴿Ha-Mim﴾ [meaning: the wisdom of Muhammad that (p-135) has amazed the creation].
