Commentary
And when the context was for condemning argumentation, and since argumentation only occurs out of arrogance, and joy is not necessarily associated with arrogance, the entrance to the Fire was not caused by it. Rather, it was made like the result of all that has passed, so He said: "Enter" meaning: O deniers.
And when there are types of punishment in the Fire, it indicated their torment with every type by mentioning the gates as a recompense for what they used to engage in with their argumentation in every type of falsehood. So He said: "Gates of Hell" meaning: the level that throws its occupant in with arrogance, frowning, and scowling. "Remaining in it" meaning: abiding in what you have initiated by entering, with permanence that has no escape from it at all.
And when it was an end in ugliness, disgrace, and evil, and their entry into it was coupled with their eternity, it was a reason to say: So it is your dwelling, which causes His saying: "So evil is the dwelling" without saying: the entrance of "the arrogant" meaning: the place of their residence, which is determined by their necessity to it because they engaged in what does not belong to them, and it should only belong to Allah. Allah, the Most High, says: "The greatness is My cloak and the majesty is My garment, so whoever disputes with Me regarding them, I will break him." And He did not emphasize the phrase "So evil" here because their statement was based on their renewed knowledge of the Hereafter regarding the conditions of the Fire and the circumstances that caused it. Emphasis is for the denier and those in his category, and the condition of each of them is contrary to knowledge. And it was made even better that the essence of the speech is with the most knowledgeable regarding the secret that has preceded, so it was very far from emphasis.
