Commentary
And when it was established by all of this the completeness of the ability, and what was imagined by those who have no insight was negated, it was certainly established that His saying: ﴿Indeed, the Hour﴾ means: the Resurrection, which those who argue with Him argue about, ﴿is surely coming﴾. By My might! For the judgment with justice in comparing the wrongdoer and the doer of good, for it is not permissible in wisdom for anyone among the creation to equate one who does good to his servants with one who does evil to them. So how could he think that of the Most Wise of judges, who we observe puts the wrongdoer to death while he is in the utmost of blessings and disobedience, and the doer of good while he is in the utmost of trials and obedience, and the oppressed before he takes revenge on the oppressor? For this evident matter, He said: ﴿There is no doubt in it﴾, meaning: there is no doubt in its coming in one of the ways, so that I may judge in it [with justice] and admit into it some people of My mercy, and others of My wrath.
And when the situation regarding it reached a point that there is no concealment in it at all, He negated faith without knowledge, so He said, glorified and exalted is He: ﴿But most of the people﴾, meaning: with what is in them of the turmoil, which is the disturbance, [and He considered the meaning of most, so He gathered, for gathering is more indicative of the intended meaning and more effective in reproach]: ﴿do not believe﴾, meaning: they do not make the one informing them of its coming safe from denial, despite the clarity of its knowledge with them. And that is only due to the stubbornness of some of them and the limitation of the perception of the rest to the senses.
