And when this advice of his caused him to turn to the King of Kings, He protected him from them despite the great danger. Allah, the Most High, said, informing that his assumption was correct: "So Allah protected him," meaning: He made for him a protection that shields him from them by what He, glorified and exalted is He, possesses of majesty, greatness, and perfection, as a reward for his trust in Him.

"Evil deeds" means: severe troubles. "What they plotted" refers to their religion and worldly matters. So He saved him along with Moses, peace be upon him, confirming His promise, glorified and exalted is He, with His words: "You two and whoever follows you will be the victorious" [Al-Qasas: 35]. And when the evil plotting does not befall anyone except its people, He said: "And it surrounded," meaning: it descended, encompassing after the encompassing of drowning, "the people of Pharaoh," meaning: all of them are Pharaoh and his followers due to their insistence on disbelief and their plotting. Thus, the encompassing of Pharaoh is more appropriate, even if we do not say that the family includes both the individual and his followers, because it is customary that one cannot reach all the followers of a person except after humiliating him and taking him down, so it is a concept of agreement.
