Tafsir for verse: 40:43
43It is obvious that those (gods) to whom you are inviting me are not worth calling, neither in this world nor in the world to come, and that we have to return back to Allah, and that the transgressors are indeed the people of the Fire.

Commentary

And when the absence of knowledge about something from the people of knowledge means the absence of that thing in the foundations of religion, what they call them to is false, and what he calls them to is the truth. Therefore, it certainly produces his saying: ﴿No doubt﴾. And although it means: no assumption or confusion at all - as mentioned in the Surah of Hud, peace be upon him, in its meaning of the cause - [that is]: for this reason, there is no doubt in ﴿that﴾ which ﴿you call me to﴾ from these partners ﴿has no call﴾ in any way. For there is no understanding of it. This is if what is meant is something that is not comprehensible. And if something is meant that is comprehensible, then there is no accepted call for it in any way, for there is no evidence for it, nor any misleading suspicion ﴿in this world﴾ which is the place of causes, apparent, for there is nothing of it that has one of the two descriptions ﴿nor in the Hereafter﴾ because what is not known to be divine will also be ﴿and that﴾ is: nor confusion in that ﴿our return﴾ is: the great return by death, and the place of our return and its time is ended ﴿to Allah﴾, that is: the One who encompasses the attributes of perfection as required by His might, so He rewards everyone according to what they deserve. ﴿And that﴾ is: and there is no doubt that ﴿the transgressors﴾, that is: those who exceed the limits, are indeed in this description ﴿they are﴾, that is: specifically due to Allah's judgment upon them ﴿the companions of the Fire﴾, that is: those who will abide in it and will not depart from it, as the meaning of companionship necessitates, for their transgression necessitated their constant association with the Fire, which is characterized by transgression. And it is known that its Lord does not reward for an evil deed except the like of it.
