And when he was informed of the words of the enemy, he followed it with the statement of the ally, saying: ﴿And Moses said﴾ to nullify this saying and to remove its effects, confirming what had settled in the souls regarding the power of Pharaoh: ﴿Indeed, I have sought refuge﴾ meaning I have taken refuge at the beginning of the message ﴿with my Lord﴾ and he encouraged them to seek refuge with Him and strengthened them with his words: ﴿And your Lord﴾ meaning the one who is gracious to all of us, for He sent me to rescue you from the enemies of religion and this world ﴿from every arrogant one﴾ meaning a tyrant who is haughty over the truth, this and others ﴿does not believe﴾ meaning there is no renewal of belief for him ﴿in the Day of Judgment﴾ from his Lord, and he knows that there must be a reckoning for him and for those under his authority from his subjects and servants, so he judges his Lord by what he does not judge himself. The meaning of seeking refuge is that no one among them can reach me to kill me because of my seeking refuge; this is a matter that my sender has completed for your salvation, the one who is capable of all things.
