Commentary
And when he mentioned the wealth of the orphans; according to what necessity called for; and what was required by the context; until he concluded with this verse; it was as if a questioner asked: From where will their wealth come? So he clarified that in a general way; by saying (the Most High): ﴿For men﴾; meaning: the males among the children of the deceased; and their relatives; and perhaps he expressed that without mentioning the females; because they did not inherit the minors; and they restricted the inheritance to what populated the homes; so he alerted (glorified is He) that the reason is the sperm; ﴿A share﴾; meaning: from them; is known; ﴿Of what the parents and relatives leave﴾; and since they did not inherit the women; he said: ﴿And for women is a share﴾; and for the purpose of clarification; for emphasis; he said - in the place of 'of what they left' -: ﴿Of what the parents and relatives leave﴾; indicating that there is no difference between them; and between the men; in the closeness which is the cause of inheritance; then he increased the matter for emphasis; and clarification; by saying - replacing what was before it; by repeating the subject -: ﴿Of what is little of it or much﴾; then he defined that this is in the manner of necessity which must occur; so he said - clarifying the importance of it by separating it from the first; by stating it in the accusative for specification; by estimating: 'I mean' -: ﴿A prescribed share﴾; meaning: determined; obligatory; clarified; and this verse is general; it was clarified by the verse of inheritance; and by the verse, it is known that it is specific to the close relatives; from the expression of the prescribed share; because the consensus - as reported by the Isfahani from Al-Razi - is that there is no prescribed share for the relatives.
