Commentary
And when the decree was: 'Thus, it was from their obligation to be humiliated and degraded'; he added to it his saying: ﴿Or﴾; meaning: there is not ﴿for them a share﴾; meaning: one of the shares; ﴿of the kingdom, then﴾; meaning: this leads to the fact that if they had the slightest share of it; ﴿they would not give the people﴾; meaning: those who believed; ﴿even a speck﴾; meaning: anything from this world; nor the Hereafter; of guidance or otherwise; and 'the speck' is the indentation on the back of the seed; it was said: it is the utmost in scarcity; so it is a metaphor for non-existence; this indicates that due to their excessive stinginess, they are only suited for what they are in of humiliation; so how about the degree of kingship? Because kingship and stinginess do not coexist.
