Commentary
And when he finished reproaching them, he said - explaining -: "Indeed, Allah"; meaning: the One who has all perfection; for He is the Absolute Rich; "does not wrong"; meaning: it cannot be imagined that any injustice could occur from Him; "the weight of a mustard seed"; meaning: anything less than it; and he mentioned it because it is a metaphor for insignificance; meaning: He does not diminish anyone anything of what they have done; nor does He reward for something that he did not do; so what about one who believes in Him; and He (p-282) has this supreme attribute?
And when he mentioned the abandonment of injustice, he followed it with the adornment of virtue; so he said - adding to what you can interpret: "So if the mustard seed is a bad deed, He does not increase upon it; and He does not recompense for it except with its like" -: "And if"; and when the listener's desire for that was great, he omitted the noon after omitting the conjunction; to bring it closer to his intention; so he said: "is"; meaning: the weight of a mustard seed; and he feminized it because of its addition to a feminine; and to belittle it; so that the weakening of what is above it may be understood; by way of priority; and this is consistent in the reading of the two sacred mosques; by raising "a good deed"; meaning: even if it is small; "He multiplies it"; meaning: of its kind; by ten times; to seventy; to seven hundredfold; to more than that according to what is known of the goodness of the deed; with good intention; "and He gives from Himself"; meaning: from the strange things that He has; a favor without work; for whoever wants; the Imam said: "And in general, that multiplication is an indication of bodily delights; and this reward is for spiritual delights"; "a great reward"; and He called it a reward - and it is not of the same kind as that good deed - because it is based on faith; meaning: whoever has this status; it is not appropriate for a wise person to direct his ambition except towards it; nor to rely fundamentally; in spending and otherwise; except upon Him.
