And when He prohibited against [the act of] causing harm, which leads to the removal of some of what has been given to the woman, He followed it by clearly stating the prohibition against taking anything from it in a situation other than the one in which He permitted it in the case of harm. So He said: "And if"; meaning: if you do not cause harm to the woman; rather, "you intend to replace a husband"; meaning: you wish to marry her; "in place of a husband"; meaning: you have separated from her; or not; and there is nothing from us that permits harm.
And when the intended meaning of "husband" is the type, He gathered in His saying: "And you have given one of them"; meaning: one of the women for whom permission has been granted to you to marry; whether she is a substitute or replaced by her; "a qintar"; meaning: a large amount of wealth; "so do not take anything from it"; meaning: by causing harm; without her being pleased with it; nor for a permissible reason. Then He emphasized the taking by an interrogative of denial and reproach; so He said: "Do you take it"; meaning: in that manner. And when it was previously established that among the forms of usurpation in the case of redemption is the resemblance of taking in this situation, which has no reason for taking in that situation; so taking in this form was made equivalent to slander; with that which has no reality to it. Therefore, He said: "a slander and a manifest sin"; meaning: like the slander of taking it; and a manifest sin - due to having no reason for it - which creates suspicion regarding it.
