Then He mocked them by His saying: "Except the path of Hellfire"; meaning: by what they scowled at those whom they wronged. And when the meaning was: He will make them dwell therein; He said: "Abiding therein"; meaning: because Allah does not forgive polytheism. And He emphasized that by His saying: "Forever"; and when that - along with what they have of intellects - is a strange matter; He (the Exalted) said: "And that was"; meaning: the great matter of their disbelief; and their misguidance; and their punishment; "easy for Allah"; meaning: because He is capable of all things.
