And when he mentioned their refusal; and their prevention from the virtues which there is nothing better than them; nor more honorable; he followed it with their boldness in committing vile acts; in which their oppression of the creation is found; and he said: ﴿And their taking of usury﴾; meaning: it is vile in itself; disgraceful for its possessor; ﴿And indeed﴾; meaning: while they indeed; ﴿were forbidden from it﴾; so they combined the violation of sound nature; with the audacity to violate the sanctity of Allah, the Most Great.
