Commentary
And when that was completed in the most perfect manner; and the best context and style; and concluded with the attributes of pardon; and power; he began to clarify the conditions of those who are not pardoned among the people of the Book; and to clarify that they are the ones who misled the hypocrites; by what they cast upon them of the doubts which their minds expanded for, due to the knowledge that Allah, glorified and exalted is He, bestowed upon them; so they displayed evil; and concealed good; thus placing His blessing where He dislikes; then Allah, glorified and exalted is He, revealed some of their doubts; and said - clarifying what he began with regarding their stories; that they have purchased misguidance with guidance; and they desire the misguidance of others; after he had concluded there (p-450) what preceded their stories with his saying: "Pardoning and capable" -: ﴿Indeed, those who disbelieve﴾; meaning: they conceal what they have of knowledge; ﴿about Allah﴾; meaning: the One who has the exclusivity of majesty; and beauty; ﴿and His messengers﴾; and when he mentioned the last of their affair; he mentioned the cause that placed them in it; and said: ﴿And they want to differentiate between Allah﴾; meaning: the One who has all command; and there is no command for anyone with Him; ﴿and His messengers﴾; meaning: so they affirm belief in Allah; and deny some of the messengers; thus negating their messages; which entails attributing falsehood to Allah; necessitating that Allah, glorified and exalted is He, is free from them.
