And when it was mentioned - glorified and exalted is He - in the counsel regarding women; and kindness in this world sometimes is through reward; and sometimes it is through reprimand and admonition; because the essence of the laws is based on justice and fairness; and caution in every matter from the two extremes of excess and neglect; and He concluded - glorified and exalted is He - with the humiliation of the sinner; as a kindness to him; by restraining him from corruption; so that this does not lead him to destruction for eternity; and one of the most grievous acts of disobedience is adultery; and corruption among women is greater; and the temptation with them is greater; and the harm from them is more dangerous; and they may introduce to men someone who inherits from them without being their children; He has prioritized them in this; as a concern for their reprimand; so He said: "And those who"; and it is the plural of "the one who"; and perhaps He expressed it in the plural as a reference to their abundance - as He indicated in: "two, three, and four" [An-Nisa: 3]; and to the abundance of corruption from them; "they come"; meaning: they act - from the generalization of the cause to the caused; and the expression with it is more eloquent - "the immoral act"; meaning: the act that is extremely disgraceful; and in the verse - because one of the greatest intentions in its arrangement; following the verses of inheritance; and what precedes it; is caution for lineage - a reference - by mentioning the punishment of the adulteress; without addressing the inheritance of the child coming from her - to affirm that the child belongs to the marital bed; and that he is not denied by mere suspicion; rather after verification; as in the Surah of "An-Nur"; because the existence of adultery does not necessitate his denial; and being from adultery; Abu Hayyan said; in "An-Nahr": "and the immoral act here is adultery; by the consensus of the interpreters; except for what Mujahid went to; and Abu Muslim Al-Isfahani followed him; that it is lesbianism; and from the men, sodomy"; then he clarified the relative; by saying: "from your women"; meaning: the free women; "so call upon witnesses"; meaning: request that they bear witness; "against them four"; from the men.

And when Allah (the Exalted) has made this nation a middle one; they turn to others; and others do not turn to them; He said: "from you"; meaning: from the just Muslims; that they have done it; "then if they witness"; meaning: by that; "then confine them"; meaning: imprison them; "in the houses"; meaning: and prevent them from going out; for that is more protective for them; and let this confinement continue; "until death comes to them"; meaning: it comes to them while they are in a state of purity; "or Allah makes for them a way out"; meaning: for them to exit before death; by clarifying the limit; or by marriage; and if the four do not witness, then that is not done with them; even if the act is verified.
