Commentary
﴿And I will surely lead them astray﴾; that is: from Your straight path; by what You have allowed me to do of whispers; and the beautification of falsehoods; ﴿And I will surely give them false hopes﴾; that is: all that I can do of falsehood; such as the denial of resurrection; and others; from the prolongation of deeds; and the attainment of hopes in this world; and the Hereafter; by mercy; and pardon; and goodness; and similar things that are a cause for procrastination in repentance; ﴿And I will surely command them﴾.
And when he knew what they were created upon of desires; and the pleasures that prepared them for His obedience; and that His obedience in corruption; in the view of every rational person; is extremely distant; he emphasized his saying: ﴿So they will surely cut﴾; that is: they will cut it into many pieces; ﴿the ears of the animals﴾; and they will split them; as a sign of what they have made unlawful for themselves; ﴿And I will surely command them, and they will surely change the creation of Allah﴾; that is: the one who has complete wisdom; so there is no equal to Him; by types of change; from changing the original sound nature; to what is less than that, such as the piercing of the eye of the protector; and similar to that; and it is an indication of what the people of ignorance have made unlawful for themselves; by drawing closer to the idols; from the free animals; and what is with them; which is referenced in the beginning of 'Al-Ma'idah'; by His saying: ﴿Lawful for you are the grazing animals except what is recited to you﴾ [Al-Ma'idah: 1]; which is explicitly stated at its end; by His saying: ﴿What Allah has not made of a bait﴾ [Al-Ma'idah: 103]; and the change could be by tattooing; and by marking; and it includes everything that contradicts the religion; for the original nature calls for the opposite of that; until they included in it the resemblance of men to women in effeminacy; and what branches from that; in the resemblance of women to men in lesbianism; and what is inclined towards that.
And when the estimation was: 'Certainly, he has lost who follows him in that; for he has become an ally to the devil'; he added to it - generalizing - his saying: ﴿And whoever takes﴾; that is: he makes an effort among them; and among others; to change the original nature; so he takes; ﴿the devil as an ally﴾; and when that is a necessary consequence of opposing Allah - glorified and exalted is He -; and what is lower than His rank is in extreme abundance; he divided; so that the comprehensiveness could be understood from the first aspect; and he said: ﴿besides Allah﴾; that is: the one who encompasses every beautiful description; ﴿Certainly, he has lost﴾; by taking that; even if it is on the slightest aspects of polytheism; ﴿a manifest loss﴾; that is: in the utmost clarity; and wretchedness; by what the form of 'Fulan' gives; for he has allied himself with one who has no good with him.
