And when He prohibited him from arguing for the absolute traitor; and he is the one who has committed any treachery; He followed this prohibition with a warning against debating about the one who deliberately commits treachery; so He said - glorified and exalted is He -: "And do not argue"; meaning: at any time; "about those who betray"; meaning: they repeatedly intend to betray themselves; by putting themselves in destruction; through disobedience in what they have been entrusted with of hidden matters; and the expression in the plural - although the verse was revealed regarding one - is for generalization; and a threat to those who assist him from his people; and it is permissible that He referred by the form of causation to the fact that treachery does not occur except repeatedly; for he first intends it; then he does it; so it is most likely that he has betrayed himself twice; the Imam said, in meaning, that the threat in this verse is very great; and that is because He - glorified and exalted is He - admonished the best of creation to Him; and the most honored among them; this admonition; and He only acted in truth outwardly; so how about one who knows the hidden and assists the people of falsehood? How about if it were with others? Then He - glorified and exalted is He - indicated that whoever betrays others is excessive in treachery by intention and the betrayal of others; which necessitates the betrayal of oneself; and for this reason it was concluded with the reasoning; by His saying: "Indeed, Allah"; meaning: the Majestic; the Great; the Possessor of Glory and Honor; "does not love"; meaning: does not honor; "the one who is treacherous and sinful"; in both forms of exaggeration - while the ranks of those who exaggerate in treachery are varying -; and in this there is also an appeal for one who has committed treachery once; and He - glorified and exalted is He - presented that; because it involves repelling harm from the innocent; and bringing benefit to him;
