100Whoever migrates in the way of Allah shall find on the earth many a place to settle, and a wide dimension (of resources). Commentary

And when he instilled fear of leaving migration, he encouraged it with what would console against what the devil might whisper; that if he were to depart - in comfort - from his homeland, he would fall into the severity of estrangement; and that perhaps he would endure hardship; so he preempted before reaching the goal; and Allah, the Most High, said: ﴿And whoever migrates﴾; meaning: he establishes migration for everything that Allah - glorified and exalted is He - and His Messenger, blessings and peace be upon him, commanded regarding migration; ﴿in the way of Allah﴾; meaning: there is nothing greater than His dominion; nor clearer than His path; nor wider; ﴿will find on earth﴾; meaning: in its length and breadth; ﴿a refuge﴾; meaning: an escape; and a place of refuge; and a place of disturbance; it will be a location for refuge; it angers the enemies with it; and it humiliates them because of what he attains of comfort; and good condition; so he will be ashamed of what they brought upon him of their ill treatment; from "the spite"; which is humiliation; and its origin is: the nose sticking to the dust; which is the soil; you say: "I humiliated so-and-so"; meaning: I abandoned him; and he dislikes your departure due to the humiliation that befalls him because of that.

And when that location is one; although it is singular; it is due to its greatness that it has many parts; it was described with what necessitates the number; so He said ﴿many﴾; and when the refuge is the delight of the soul; it is more precious than the delight of the body; so He prioritized it; following it with His saying: ﴿and spaciousness﴾; meaning: in provision; as he said, blessings and peace be upon him: "Fast and you will be healthy; travel and you will gain wealth"; it was narrated by Al-Tabarani from Abu Huraira - may Allah be pleased with him - and its wording is: "And go forth in battle; and migrate, and you will succeed."

And when it was possible that the migrant might die before reaching the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him; it was thought that he did not attain migration; despite his endurance of leaving his country; He said: ﴿And whoever exits from his house﴾; meaning: apart from his country; ﴿migrating to Allah﴾; meaning: seeking the pleasure of the King; (the One who has all perfection); ﴿and His Messenger﴾; meaning: to be with Him; ﴿then death overtakes him﴾; meaning: after his exit from his house; even if before reaching the borders of his country; ﴿then his reward has fallen﴾; meaning: in his migration - according to the promise as a favor; not according to the entitlement as justice -: ﴿upon Allah﴾; meaning: the One who has complete encompassing; so nothing is lacking from Him; and likewise, everyone who intends good; and does not attain it: "There is no envy except in two cases"; so He will fulfill it for him as a fulfillment of what the generous among you is obligated to.

And when some of them might fall short in reaching his goals in his journey; or in leaving his country; it was thought that his migration did not compensate for his shortcoming; He said: ﴿And Allah﴾; meaning: the One who has all attributes of perfection; ﴿is Forgiving﴾; meaning: for any shortcoming; if it exists; ﴿and Merciful﴾; He honors after forgiveness with various honors;
