Commentary
And when He mentioned - glorified is He - those who are consumed by desires; and what they have reached of ranks; He followed them with the people of miracles; those who have no distraction from worship; so He said - directing the speech to the highest of creation that none other than Him can fulfill the right of this vision -: ﴿And you will see﴾; expressing with something more specific than sight; more specific than looking; as He clarified in 'Al-Baqarah'; in His saying (exalted is He): ﴿Indeed, all power belongs to Allah﴾ [Al-Baqarah: 165] ﴿the angels﴾; standing with all that is upon them of rights; ﴿surrounding﴾; meaning: encircling; and revolving; and circling in groups that none can count except Allah; from 'huff', which means gathering; and 'huffa', which is a multitude of people; and the many numbers; and it is the plural of 'hāff', which is the singular of the surrounding group.
And when the greatness of a thing is from the greatness of its owner; and none can encompass the greatness of the Throne as it truly deserves except Allah (exalted is He); He indicated this by including the preposition; so He said: ﴿from around the Throne﴾; meaning: the place in which it is surrounded by it; and encompassed by it; from 'ḥawl', which means encompassing; and turning; and revolving; surrounding some of its edges; meaning: the sides that can be surrounded; being close to it; the sound of their edges is heard in glorification; and praise; and sanctification; and trembling in fear of their Lord; so the inclusion of 'from' implies that they - despite their multitude to a degree that none can count except Allah - do not fill what is around it; while they are; ﴿glorifying with praise﴾; and He directed the statement to describe the kindness; praising them for their striving; for the gratitude of the Benefactor; and training for others; so He said: ﴿their Lord﴾; meaning: they exaggerate in exalting Him from deficiency; by assuming that He is in need of a Throne; or anything else; and that a place encompasses Him; being engaged in affirming perfection for the One who has bestowed upon them; by obligating them to worship; without any distraction that occupies them; nor any rival from desire; or fortune that makes them heedless; enjoying the remembrance of Him; and being honored by His sanctification; and because His right is to manifest His greatness at all times; just as He is connected to the bestowal.
And when the mention of the judgment between the people of desires has preceded; by what has been manifested upon them from the testimonies; it is mentioned here the judgment between them and the angels; those who expressed concern about the essence of their creation; by saying: "Will You place therein one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood?"; the verse; and He said: ﴿And the judgment was made between them﴾; meaning: between the people of desires; and the people of protection and steadfastness; and when the context was general in encouragement; and warning; in justice; and virtue; unlike the context of the Surah of "Yunus" - blessings and peace be upon him -; He said: ﴿With truth﴾; because it was aligned with what We have revealed to them in the books that We established for their actual reckoning; so whoever transgressed among them, We will place him in "Lazha"; by our justice; and whoever feared, We will grant him comfort in the Garden of abode; by our grace; for their struggle against what is in them of desires; until they remained steadfast in obedience; along with what drives them from their natures to ignorance; and as for the angels, We kept them in their state of worship; ﴿And it was said﴾; meaning: from every speaker; the end of all matters; ﴿All praise﴾; meaning: the encompassing of all attributes of perfection; and He directed the saying to what is true in this position; He said: ﴿To Allah﴾; the Lord of glory and honor; we know that on this day with certainty; just as we knew it in the world with knowledge of certainty.
And when that day is the most deserving of days for the knowledge of the comprehensiveness of lordship; due to the gathering of creatures; and the opening of insights; and the vastness of consciences; He said - describing it - glorified and exalted is He - with the closest attributes to the Greatest Name -: ﴿Lord of the worlds﴾; meaning: the One who initiated them (p-573) first from non-existence; and established them secondly; by what He nurtured them with from management; and brought them back thirdly after their annihilation; with the most complete decree and determination; and kept them fourthly; not for good; for He has fulfilled His promise; just as He revealed in His Book; and confirmed His warning to His enemies; just as He said in His Book; so it was confirmed that it is His revelation; for He concluded the matter by affirming perfection with the name of praise upon entering the gardens; and the fires; just as He began with it at the beginning of creation in the first bestowal; so to Him is the encompassing of perfection in that the matter is as His Book says in every case; for the end of it has aligned with its beginning; that the Book is His revelation for the conformity of everything in it to reality; when its interpretation comes; and that the Book carrying towards piety; which causes the Garden; was revealed for the preservation of the first; so whoever follows it has a cause for the preservation of the second; and this latter is the same as the beginning of the first Surah of "Ghafir"; so glorified is He who revealed it, its system is miraculous; surpassing the powers, the beginning of everything is from Him and its conclusion; and may Allah send blessings upon our master Muhammad; and his family; and his companions; and the pure and righteous members of his household; and all his companions.
