Commentary

And when the decree was: "So they entered it"; he added to it his saying: ﴿And they said﴾; meaning: all those who entered; ﴿All praise﴾; meaning: the encompassing of the attributes of perfection; and they turned to the Greatest Name; encouraging themselves to bring to mind all that they could know of the attributes; so they said: ﴿To Allah﴾; meaning: the Greatest King; ﴿Who has fulfilled His promise to us﴾; in His saying: ﴿This is the Paradise which We will inherit from Our servants who were righteous﴾ [Maryam: 63]. Thus, His saying corresponded to the reality that we found at this moment; ﴿And He has made us inherit﴾; as He promised us; ﴿the earth﴾; of which there is no other earth in reality; and it is the land of Paradise; in which there is no distress whatsoever; and in it is all that the souls desire; and that the eyes find pleasure in; by making our state in it one of complete ownership; and the absence of any cause in reality for it; in the state of the inheritor who is after his inheritance; and there is nothing after him; nor any rival to him; while we are ﴿taking our places﴾; meaning: we are establishing residences; which are worthy for one who has left them to desire to return to them; and they clarified the earth by their saying - in the place of the pronoun -: ﴿from Paradise﴾; meaning: all of it; ﴿wherever we wish﴾; due to its vastness; so there is no need for anyone in it to dispute with anyone over a place at all; nor does anyone desire except his own place; and when it was with this magnificent description; it resulted in her praise by his saying: ﴿So excellent﴾; is our reward; thus was the original; but he said: ﴿The reward of the workers﴾; encouraging good deeds; and urging against reliance.
