60And on the Day of Judgment, you will see those who had forged lies against Allah (in a state) that their faces are turned black. Is it not that in Jahannam there is an abode for the arrogant?

Commentary

And when he had deliberately lied when faced with punishment; in the absence of clarification; and at the appropriate time; Allah, the Most High, said - warning about his condition; and the condition of those like him; and he directed the saying to those who do not understand it properly except for others; as a consolation for him; and an increase in fear for others -: "And on the Day of Resurrection"; meaning: the day which is not wise to neglect; "you will see"; meaning: O doer of good; "those who lied"; and he increased the ugliness of their condition in their transgression; by directing the saying to the Greatest Name; so he said: "against Allah"; meaning: the One who possesses all attributes of perfection; by describing Him with what is not befitting Him; and He is exalted above that He did what is not wise; from the obligation without clarification; and from the creation of creation where some of them oppress others; without accountability in which fairness occurs between the oppressor and the oppressed; or they claimed for Him a partner; or something like that; Ibn al-Jawzi said: And al-Hasan said: "They are those who say: If we wish, we do; and if we wish, we do not"; it has ended; and it seems that he meant the Mu'tazila; who separated themselves from his gathering; and innovated their saying: that they create their actions; and included in it everyone who spoke about religion in ignorance; and everyone who lied; and he knows that he is lying in whatever it may be; for indeed, from the perspective that his action is the action of one who thinks that Allah does not know his lie; or cannot punish him; as if he lied against Allah; you see them with your own eyes while they are in the state of "their faces are blackened"; a subject and a predicate; and it is the state of the connected; meaning: their blackness is established; increasing in ugliness; and the severity of disgrace by making that a sign upon them; so that those who see them may recognize them by what they lied about in this world; for they did not shy away from the disgraceful lie; is that not a deterrent from absolute lying?! So how about lying against Allah; whose Hell is its prison?! So how about the arrogant towards Him?! "Is it not in Hell"; meaning: which meets whoever is met therein with frowning; and scowling; "a dwelling"; meaning: a residence; "for the arrogant"; those who were arrogant against following the command of Allah.
