Commentary
(p-515) 'Whoever comes to him'; meaning: from us and from you; 'a punishment that humiliates him'; by removing from him everything he could find pleasurable; 'and it descends upon him'; meaning: it is necessary at its time; from 'the truth has come upon him; it descends'; with the kasrah; meaning: it is obligatory; and 'the debt': it has become due with the arrival of its term; 'a punishment that is permanent'; for its permanence in its state; and its stagnation in its misguidance; and whoever Allah gives victory to, He elevates him; and transfers him to a great bliss; for his transition by his ascent in the ranks of perfection; by the commands of the Lord of majesty and beauty; and they certainly knew that in the story of the mockers; then in the incident of 'Badr'; for whoever Allah destroyed among them, He made their destruction the first of their punishments; and transferred them with it to the punishment of the Barzakh; then to the punishment of the Fire; so there is no escape for him from the punishment; nor any hope for a good return.
